ILLINOIS ROCK AND ROLL MUSIC ARCHIVES: THE BLOG

This blog is dedicated to the music and the musicians from Illinois. The artists, the recordings, the studios, the players, the labels, the managers, the agents and all those involved with making music happen.

HISTORIAN KEN VOSS

For over 40 years, Ken Voss has been involved in many aspects of the Chicago area music industry from publishing to marketing to sales and installation. Ken’s roots date back to 1974 as founder and publisher of the Illinois Entertainer monthly music magazine, still in publication today. His knowledge of the nightclub business led him to involvement with the design and installation of entertainment systems for venues. Involved more and more with the specific aspects of those systems, Voss has spent 25 years as Regional Sales Manager for various music industry manufacturers, and has acted as Marketing Director and Media Relations Specialist.

Voss is also Curator of the Jimi Hendrix Information Management Institute, an organization designed to accumulate and disseminate the history of the life and music of guitarist Jimi Hendrix. These roles have led to the founding of the Illinois Music Archives, documenting and preserving the rich history of Illinois music – the artists, the music and the industry-related businesses involved.
